Carmel Wedding Anniversary | Garrapata State Park | Amy + Brett

Big Sur Wedding Photographer

Our story with Amy and Brett goes allll the way back to 2017.

We met this lovely couple when photographing Laura and Brendan’s Santa Fe wedding. Amy was Laura’s maid of honor and as we spent the day with her, she mentioned she wished she knew of us when she got married earlier that year. Sadly, their wedding photographer apparently gave her a less than wedding experience, which totally breaks our heart. We suggested we could “redo” their wedding portraits sometime.

Although they were totally up for the idea and soon after that wedding were relocated to the Bay Area for work… getting this session scheduled was no small feat! Last year they had a baby (he’s adorable and will likely join us for the next session!) and as we all know a global pandemic happened and moved our session date twice! These two were nothing but understanding, thoughtful, and patient. Although it was later than we all wanted it to be, we think it totally paid off to get this epic session!

When we finally knew we would be photographing a small wedding in Carmel (thanks for 85 changes to our schedule, 2020) we immediately reached out to this sweet couple and offered them a chance to have their session. For extra fun, the global pandemic had so many locations closed but finally we found Garrapata State Park on the coast of Carmel just north of Big Sur.

If you’re looking for a gorgeous spot that isn’t too, too far from Carmel, but looks like Big Sur, Garrapata is perfect! There was plenty of off the street parking, but be warned… there is ZERO cell phone reception. Be sure you make a plan on where to meet exactly for your session - or accidentally allow an extra hour to find each other like we did, thankfully!

If you had wedding photos taken that you don’t absolutely love for whatever reason, we are SO sorry to hear this! You deserve to love your wedding photography. Although you cannot get your exact wedding day and those photo opportunities back, know that there is an option, like Amy and Brett chose to do, to create new memories that can at least give you something to treasure and celebrate your story.

We feel so fortunate that our paths crossed with Amy and Brett and that they chose and trusted us to capture these moments for them! We can’t wait for their little boy, and future generations, to get to look at these images of his parents in love as he grows.
